Thank you for providing the material for a plaque recognizing a 23 year volunteer paddling leader for the Appalachian Mountain Club, Worcester MA Chapter. The recipient loved it.
First I arranged various images - our club logo, native american design elements, and commemorative text. Next I taped to the paddle paper printed with this composition and outlined the images firmly with a pencil, leaving an impression in the wood. Finally I used the lines impressed on the wood as a guide for burning the image onto the paddle with a soldering iron.
It so happens we're making another, but I've got help from a real artist, and am looking into shops that can burn the image with a laser. That first one by hand took weeks!

When I first inquired about this model paddle with no lacquer finish a few years ago (before you offered them in this fashion) I got them for around $6, then you offered them online for $10, and now $20? I know the economy isn't doing so hot but I can't even afford to continue my hobby at this price! Surely removing the lacquering step can't cost you anymore! I won't lie and say these paddles aren't a good product, because they are, and they work perfectly well for my hobby, but the price is rediculous. Good riddance!

Ouch, I don't understand the price jump?! Guess I have to look elsewhere for now. Contact me if you intend on dropping the price back to normal.

I first found these paddles in Alaska. Have used them for 20 years. Best paddle for the cost. Light weight and resilient for paddling and portage use.
